Textiles Room

In our Textiles Room, students explore creativity through fabric, sewing, and design. This space provides opportunities to learn both practical and artistic skills.

Participants may learn how to sew by hand or machine, repair clothing, create small textile items, or experiment with different fabrics and materials.

Working with textiles encourages patience and attention to detail, while also allowing individuals to express their creativity. Projects might include making simple bags, decorative items, or repairing garments to give them a longer life.

The textiles room supports:

  • Fine motor skill development

  • Creativity and self-expression

  • Practical skills such as repairing clothing

  • Confidence through completing projects

For disabled young adults, creative activities can provide a powerful outlet for self-expression and personal achievement. Completing a project from start to finish can bring a strong sense of pride.

Textile skills can also contribute to greater independence, as students learn useful everyday skills like mending clothes or creating practical items.
