For our young adults to participate in work experience and or volunteering to gain valuable work skills.
"Preparing for Adulthood" government outcome:- Moving into paid employment and higher education.
Our young adults have been exploring voluntary jobs as part of our aim for them to participate in work experience / volunteering to gain valuable work skills. Their journey began with exploring jobs which interest them and make thought showers of the skills needed to carry out that job. Next they research the internet and look at voluntary options, and email potential leads. After this they go out into the local community asking businesses the questions needed to apply for volunteering
Our company hope is that all our young adults will experience supported volunteering.work experience throughout the coming months on a variety of work placements within our local community. If you are an empolyer who would like to offer us a workplacment (fully supported) please contact us or email us your details.

Promoting Social Inclusion
Our Aim
To integrate our young adults into the local community and wider communities as much as possible to promote social inclusion. "Preparing for Adulthood" government outcome:- Having friends and relationships and being part of their community.
Our members enjoy socialising with their friends. They have fun when eating out and participating in community leisure and recreational activities. We have links with various local companies within our community to help raise funds so that our young adults can enjoy residential and non-residential short breaks that enhance their lives, promote their independence and support their families. As part of our programme of training our young adults are encouraged to make healthy choices. We also take advice from Mind to keep us up to date with useful information we share with our young adults. We work with local companies who offer well being programmes such as yoga, Tai Chi and other forms of relaxation techniques.
Non-Residential Short Breaks
In August 2017 we were funded to participate at Peat Rigg for a full day. The young adults enjoyed every aspect of the day and were fully included in all activities. More information on this trip can be found here. You can also view our You Tube videos here.
Residential Short Breaks
In February 2018 we attended Peat Rigg Outdoor Center on a three day residential. We stayed Saturday until Monday It was an incredible experience and the young adults totally loved it. Hopefully, the parents had a well-deserved rest.

We enjoy taking part in the 'Smile Through Sport' programme, once a month. They are a team that loves to inspire, motivate and create opportunity. SMILE Through Sport CIC is a not for profit organisation founded in 2013 by Paralympian Stephen Miller MBE. It combines the services of inspirational speaking, training courses and disability sport development. Working throughout the North East of England, they have a growing and dedicated team that is passionate about disability sport. They work with all types of organisations from schools to private businesses. They work closely with clients to provide a bespoke and tailored service that suits their needs. So far they have inspired and helped over 12,000 people!
Creative Village (Stockton)
Our young adults enjoy art workshops ran by Creative Village CIC (Community Interest Company) which was set up by two passionate young artists who support creative expression for all. Lucy Addison and Jess Langford provide art based workshops which give attendees the opportunity to explore feelings, build confidence and develop skills in self-expression. These workshops are aimed at people with additional needs and those who are socially excluded or isolated. They are currently delivering a project called Get Creative, which is funded by The Big Lottery Awards for All Fund, to young people with caring responsibilities, young people on the Autistic Spectrum and young adults with special needs. By tailoring the workshops to their specific needs and adapting them where necessary the young people leave the workshops with increased confidence, social skills, skills in various art disciplines and a new way of expressing and dealing with emotions.
