Ropery Gardens

Ropery Gardens is a safe, secure and fully enclosed outdoor space where young people can enjoy the benefits of fresh air, sunshine and nature in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The gardens feature raised planters where young people grow their own fruit, vegetables and herbs, learning valuable horticultural skills while taking pride in nurturing their produce from seed to harvest. The ingredients they grow are then used in our Life Skills cookery sessions, giving them the rewarding experience of preparing and enjoying meals using food they have grown themselves. Home-grown produce is also used during special events, including summer barbecues and mocktail-making sessions, helping to create meaningful, real-life experiences.

Ropery Gardens is much more than a gardening space. It is an outdoor learning environment where young people take part in a wide range of daily activities, develop friendships, build confidence and enjoy new experiences in the fresh air. Whether relaxing on bean bags, participating in group sessions, or simply taking time to unwind in the peaceful surroundings, the gardens provide a calm, therapeutic space that supports wellbeing, independence and social interaction.
